Annual workshop aims to boost Taiwan's bilingual goal
It integrates the language workshop for insurance practices.
In support of the National Development Council's goal for a bilingual nation by 2030, Taiwan Insurance Institute (TII) recently hosted the "Improving English Proficiency Workshop – Insurance International Affairs" from May 7 to 10, 2024.
This annual event, now in its second year, is a collaborative effort between TII and the British Council. The workshop provides a task-oriented, immersive business English environment integrated with insurance practices.
Andrew Yeh, President of TII, emphasised during the opening ceremony the event's role in broadening participants' international horizons.
Ralph Rogers, Director Taiwan of the British Council, echoed this sentiment and expressed hopes for further cooperation and exchanges between Taiwan and the United Kingdom.

The workshop spanned three days, beginning with a seminar at the British Council on the first day, followed by a camp-style workshop at Gaia Hotel in Beitou on the second and final day.
It focused on enhancing communication and presentation skills in insurance and financial contexts through practical scenarios. Networking sessions were also arranged to refine social English skills, aligning with the goal of immersive English thinking.
Buoyed by strong support from the insurance industry, TII plans to continue organising this annual workshop to foster bilingual talent and promote internationalisation within the insurance and financial sectors.
