China intensifies healthcare probes over insurance fund concerns

Chinese authorities will re-inspect medical facilities, which were already checked, due to the discrepancies in insurance fund usage in 2024 spot checks.
In a government circular jointly issued by four state agencies, including the National Healthcare Security Administration, this year's annual spot checks will include a certain proportion of medical institutions previously inspected, reported the state news agency, Xinhua.

It will be focusing on detecting improper fund usage in critical care, anesthesiology, lung cancer treatment, and addressing fraud issues. Re-inspections will verify the rectification of past irregularities.
Key areas of concern also encompass ensuring procurement compliance for drugs and consumables in public hospitals, along with examining irregularities in treating patients from different provinces.
