China launches seven-month crackdown on industry fraud

Since 2021, the nation’s police have uncovered almost 2,000 insurance fraud cases.

The Ministry of Public Security and the National Financial Regulatory Administration of China announced a seven-month special operation which targets fraud crimes committed in the insurance industry.

It plans to commence in April and end in November, the government offices said in a statement.

Police departments nationwide will prioritise solving major cases, targeting criminal organisations, and disrupting the criminal chain.

Collaborative efforts will involve police, regulatory agencies, insurance industry organisations, and insurance companies.

Financial regulatory agencies will concentrate on high-risk sectors, employing big data technologies and sharing intelligence promptly with the police.
