Dai-ichi Life’s capital efficiency to improve – Moody’s

The insurer has shown a strong domestic market position.

Moody's expects Dai-ichi Life to focus on improving capital efficiency and anticipates the insurer maintaining its strong position, capitalisation, and ALM in the next 12-18 months. 

Overall, Dai-ichi Life Insurance is seen to maintain a stable outlook.

The affirmation reflects Dai-ichi Life's strong domestic market position, robust capitalization, and sound asset-liability management. 

Despite a very large market share, the insurer faces challenges such as weaker asset quality, high hedging costs, and stagnant sales of profitable protection products.
