Gig worker platform offers paid leaves, underwritten by Etiqa

80% of the surveyed wanted traditional benefits.

JodRewards added new features to its platform, allowing registered gig workers to file for paid leaves.

Beginning 1 June, Jobs On Demand or Jod members will have access to Paid Sick Leave, Income Protection from Job Cancellation, and Emergency and Compassionate Leave, underwritten by Etiqa Insurance Singapore.

This initiative offers gig workers unprecedented security and support, similar to full-time employees.

A survey of 1,000 Jod members revealed that 80% wanted traditional employment benefits, highlighting a need for such support.

The paid sick leave benefit helps at least 100 members monthly who cancel jobs due to medical reasons, offering financial protection during hospitalisation and sick days.

Likewise, the emergency and compassionate leave provides financial relief during family emergencies, allowing members to focus on their loved ones without financial stress.

Meanwhile, income protection from job cancellation is a first-of-its-kind benefit in Southeast Asia, allowing members to recover a portion of their income if jobs are cancelled within 12 hours of the start date.
