Hong Kong International Airport offers free insurance to travelers

Passengers will receive compensation if their flight is delayed more than six hours.

The Hong Kong International Airport is offering free insurance as well as flight delay insurance to passengers.

Underwritten by ZA International in collaboration with the Airport Authority Hong Kong, the two organisations created the ZA Flight Delay Insurance.

The ZA Flight Delay Insurance is the first-of-its-kind flight delay insurance product in Hong Kong that automatically triggers claims once a delay of six hours or more is detected, without the need to submit any supporting documents during the process.

The service enables passengers to get insured free of charge through My HKG, the official digital app of the Hong Kong International Airport.

To provide further peace of mind to passengers, ZA International will also offer protection under its ZA Relief Fund to policyholders of the ZA Flight Delay Insurance on exclusive terms. Under the protection of the ZA Relief Fund, passengers will receive a one-off HK$30k benefit in the unfortunate event of being diagnosed of Covid-19 during the trip or within 14 days after returning to Hong Kong.
