Insurers to expedite claims, IRDAI mandates senior liaisons

Insurers are advised to publicise contact details of liasons for better assistance.

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) instructed all insurers to rapidly mobilise resources for quick claim settlements. 

Cyclone Remal caused significant damage across various states, leading to loss of lives, property, and infrastructure.

Insurers must appoint senior executives as liaisons, establish district-level claims desks, and provide 24x7 helplines. 

“The insurers have been advised to communicate the nomination of a Senior Executive to the Chief Secretary immediately. Districts reporting large numbers of claims to oversee by a designated District Claims Service Head. The insurers to give wide publicity on the contact details of these officers in their websites and also in the media.” the IRDAI said in a press release.
