ISF co-funds parametric solution for remote Indian state
Nagaland faces high levels of disaster and climate-related impacts.
InsuResilience Solutions Fund (ISF) co-funded the development and implementation of a parametric insurance solution to improve Nagaland’s disaster response capabilities.
Nagaland, one of India's smallest and most agriculture-dependent states, faces high levels of disaster and climate-related impacts.
After the launch of this insurance mechanism, ISF is now providing additional premium support.
Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), in collaboration with Tata AIG General Insurance Company Limited, developed a climate risk insurance solution to enhance the State Disaster Response Fund’s (SDRF) capacity to respond to major climate events.
This initiative, supported by ISF, began with a pilot of a basic parametric excess rainfall cover in 2020.
Following its success, ISF is extending its support with further premium assistance, enhancing Nagaland's disaster management capabilities.
