Kyobo Life CEO awarded the 2023 Insurance Hall of Fame
Kyobo Life chairman and CEO Dr. Shin is the award’s first legacy inductee.
Kyobo Life chairman and CEO Chang-Jae Shin, MD, has been recognized by the International Insurance Society (IIS) as a Laureate of the Insurance Hall of Fame, 27 years after his father and founder of Kyobo Life Yong Ho Shin was granted the same award
“Dr. Chang-Jae Shin embodies the spirit of the Insurance Hall of Fame through his change management, visionary leadership, and people-first approach,” said Josh Landau, president of the ISS.
The Insurance Hall of Fame acknowledges industry leaders that have made great contributions to the insurance sector and society. Those selected as Laureates are seen as “innovators and visionaries” that influence others to help meet the global needs of the insurance environment.
Some of the award’s previous Laureates were Larry D. Zimpleman of Principal Financial, A. Greig Woodring of RGA, Michael A. Butt of Axis Capital, and Shuzo Sumi of Tokio Marine.
Since his appointment as CEO in 2000, Dr. Shin established various changes in Kyobo Life which focused on improving customer satisfaction, achieving financial stability, controlling risk, and shifting the business model from quantitative to qualitative growth.
The company, later on, received the 2009 Life Insurance Company of the Year by Asia Insurance Industry Awards and has been No. 1 in the life insurance sector of the Korean Sustainability Index for the past 13 years.
The Kyobo Life CEO will be honoured at the Global Insurance Forum gala on 5 November. to be held at the Hilton Singapore Orchard.
