No lifetime cap on Bupa’s latest medical insurance plans

It has annual benefit limits ranging from HK$5m to HK$10m.

Bupa Hong Kong introduced two new medical insurance plans, designed for millennials, Gen Z, and retirees with no lifetime benefit cap.

The Bupa Hero VHIS Plan (Core) and Bupa Hero VHIS Plan (Core Pro) have annual benefit limits ranging from $640m (HK$5m) to $1.28m (HK$10m).

The insurer said it is expanding its portfolio to align with the government’s Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme (VHIS).

Addressing the gap in medical coverage in Hong Kong, where less than half of the population has medical benefits or insurance, Bupa's new plans aim to provide affordable options tailored to different life stages.

The plan offers ward-level coverage across Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, whilst the Hero Core Pro plan extends coverage worldwide, excluding the United States.

Key features include guaranteed lifelong renewal, coverage for unknown pre-existing conditions, and 24/7 mental health support.

Bupa’s new plans also provide access to a wide range of healthcare services, including general and specialist outpatient care, traditional Chinese medicine, physiotherapy, and vaccination, all available at privileged rates through Bupa Pass.
