Prudential expands hospital coverage in Chinese mainland
It is the first insurer in Hong Kong to cover all Class 3 public hospitals and Class 2A hospitals.
Prudential Hong Kong has expanded its hospital coverage in Mainland China, growing 98% year-on-year (YoY) to more than 4,200 hospitals.
Prudential has expanded its designated hospital list in the Chinese mainland, making it the first life insurance company in Hong Kong to cover all Class 3 public hospitals across the mainland, as well as Class 2A hospitals in 15 local cities.
“According to our data, more than four out of five or 87% of claims involving medical expenses incurred in Chinese mainland in 2022 were from the selected hospitals in our hospital list, reflecting robust demand for local healthcare services in the Chinese mainland,” Candy Au Yeung, Chief Customer Operations Officer of Prudential Hong Kong Limited
In addition, Prudential launched the Medical Green Channel in 2021 to further improve its medical service. The Medical Green Channel covers more than 1,600 Class 3A hospitals in 26 provinces in Chinese mainland, providing customers with a one-stop booking service for medical appointments.
Customers with designated medical plans who fall sick while in Chinese mainland can visit the online portal or call the 24-hour Medical Green Channel service hotline to enrol for support.
Dedicated case managers will then help them secure priority bookings for outpatient and/or hospitalisation appointments at selected hospitals. Moreover, escort staff will go to the appointed hospitals to assist clients with the registration process. If qualified customers receive pre-authorisation for the Cashless Service, Prudential will settle medical expenses on their behalf, enabling them to fully focus on their recovery and recuperation.
