Rick Allen assumes key role as chief underwriting officer at Sompo

Rick Allen will is succeeding Cliff Easton, who is retiring.

Sompo has appointed Richard “Rick” Allen as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for its Global Markets Commercial P&C insurance business. 

Based in London, Allen will report to Julian James, CEO global markets, Sompo, succeeding Cliff Easton, who is retiring and will provide advisory support.

Formerly EVP, Commercial p&c insurance and professional lines product leader, global markets, Allen brings nearly a decade of experience with Sompo in various product and management roles.

In his new position, he will collaborate with chief underwriting officers across different regions, ensuring alignment with Sompo’s underwriting strategy. 

Allen will also oversee underwriting governance, risk controls, and set underwriting policy for Global Markets’ commercial P&C insurance business.
