Union Assurance taps Senath Jayatilake as CEO

Judge Gomes was the previous CEO.

Union Assurance announced the appointment of Senath Jayatilake as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 January. 

Jayatilake, who previously held roles as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Distribution Officer, takes over from Jude Gomes, the outgoing CEO. His tenure at Union Assurance has been marked by significant contributions to the company's transformation.

With a diverse background in leadership across various industries, Jayatilake is well-equipped to steer Union Assurance into its next growth phase. 

His career with the John Keells Group began in 2007, encompassing key leadership positions in business development, operations management, sales and marketing, and corporate strategy.

Before his current role, he was the CEO of John Keells Logistics (Pvt) Ltd.

Jayatilake is academically accomplished, holding a BA (Hons) in Finance, Accounting, and Management from the University of Nottingham, UK, and an MBA from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, SL. 

He is also a recognised Associate Chartered Management Accountant and a Chartered Global Management Accountant from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK.
